Who is allowed to work with your teen.

Everyone. Ambassadors, facilitators, guest instructors, mentors, volunteers, and venue staff acting in a program role. In person, virtually, and at Market Day. There is no category of adult who is exempt.

Every adult with unsupervised access to a participant completes Level 2 fingerprint screening through FDLE's VECHS program before any contact with a teen.

This applies regardless of role, tenure, or how well we know the person. No adult begins working with participants on a pending result. An adult who has not been screened may attend only in the direct line of sight of a screened adult, and never in a supervisory role.

We do not publish instructor or mentor names externally until their screening clears.

At least two screened adults are present at every session, or the interaction happens in the direct line of sight of a second screened adult.

This covers arrivals, departures, breaks, restroom routes, and any moment a session runs long. If a second adult is unexpectedly unavailable, the session is postponed. It is not run one-to-one.

Where one-to-one mentoring is offered, it happens in an open setting with a second adult present in the room.

All program communication happens on program channels, with a parent or guardian and a second adult included.

There is no private direct messaging, texting, calling, social media contact, or personal email between an adult and a participant. Adults do not connect with participants on personal social media. A mentor who wants to stay in touch after the program does so through you.

Two sessions are delivered online, and the same rules apply. Two screened adults in every session. Never one-to-one. Private chat between an adult and a participant is disabled. Waiting rooms are on and no unidentified attendee is admitted. Recording happens only with written parental consent.

No physical contact beyond a handshake or a high five. No gifts to an individual participant. No contact outside the program without your knowledge. No transporting a participant in a personal vehicle — getting your teen to a session is a family responsibility. No alcohol, tobacco, vaping, or controlled substances at any program activity. Adults do not discuss their personal or romantic lives with participants.

Every adult is briefed at onboarding that they are a mandatory reporter under Florida law.

Suspected abuse, neglect, or abandonment is reported immediately to the Florida Abuse Hotline at 1-800-962-2873. The report is made by the person who has the suspicion. It is not delegated, filtered through a program lead, or held for internal discussion.

There is sign-in and sign-out at every in-person session and at Market Day, recorded by a screened adult. Your teen is released only to you, a guardian, or a person you name in writing on the enrollment form. We collect an emergency contact and medical release for every participant before the first session.

Public events get extra measures. A named adult holds the roster and does headcounts at set intervals. Participants do not leave the venue perimeter without a parent or guardian. No teen handles a cash box alone or transports takings. Adults are identifiable by badge or shirt. Members of the public are never left unsupervised with a teen at a booth.

No participant's face or full name is published without a signed photo release. Where we don't hold one, images are taken from behind or cropped to hands and products. First name and last initial is our default for any public use.

Applications, emergency contacts, and medical releases are held on program accounts, accessible only to screened Ambassadors, and are not shared outside the program without your consent.

One session uses AI tools. BRATS uses a program-held account in a supervised session, so no teen needs to create one of their own. Participants do not enter personal information into any AI tool. Consent for this is included in the same parent packet as everything else, and the specific tool is named there.

An incident report form is available at every session. Any injury, near miss, or concern is recorded the same day, and you are notified the same day if it involves your teen. Safeguarding concerns go to the Florida Abuse Hotline first — reporting is never delayed by internal paperwork.
